The future of eSports look bright in 2018 as the beginning of the year saw the release of Fortnite, one of the most interesting video games. It was initially intended to be a player-versus-environment (PVE) multiplayer game, however the game was launched amidst the rapidly increasing fame for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Brief introduction of the game

Fortnite is composed of two different game modes: the standard player-versus-environment mode and the Battle Royale mode. ‘Save the World’ is a sandbox survival game, which mainly focuses on creating items and weapons , exploring an unknown territory and finally looking for survival. The players need to create strong fortified structures to protect themselves from enemies

The Battle Royale is just like what it sounds and the approach is also pretty similar to battlegrounds in other games. There are up to 100 players that may play either solo or in squads. They are dropped into unknown islands via parachute and they have to try and survive in the environment. Once landed on the island, the players need to look for shelter, weapons, items and build structures to stay protected. The last man or last team standing is crowned as the winner.

Is it an eSport yet?

No wonder the Fortnite has received a lot of success in viewership as well as playerbase. The game has yet to have some serious esports appeal outside the local LAN tournaments. Although the makers have acknowledged the demand for creating a competitive esport scene around the game, an organized league is yet to be officially confirmed.

There are several professional teams that take part in the Fornite: Battle Royale esports scene. For example, the TeamSoloMid recent made an official announcement saying that they are creating a Fortnite team and they even went ahead to sign a player.

However, a proper and well organized league for the much popular Fortnite game is yet to be officially released.
